We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. As an organization that combines expertise developed from the daily practice of immigration law with a deep commitment to advocacy, RAICES is unique among immigration organizations. We provide a holistic approach to immigrants. RAICES not only assists immigrants in navigating through complicated immigration laws, but we also assist immigrants with social needs through case management and providing assistance with housing. COVID-19 Response
Protecting the health and safety of employees and clients remains essential. We currently practice social distancing and encourage masks in all public areas. RAICES is using a phased-in approach to return staff to resume in-office operations.


This position will require working remotely and in-office at the assigned work location. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.


PLEASE NOTE: All employees are assigned to an office location. The expectation is that you live within the area to commute to and from the office as business or client needs require.

The Refugee Resettlement Clinician is responsible for providing mental health evaluations and therapeutic services to the refugee individuals and families that RAICES resettles in San Antonio. This position works in collaboration with the Case Managers to support clients during their resettlement journey and addresses their emotional and mental health needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides mental health services to clients in home, in office, and remote settings to include newly resettled refugee adults and their children;
  • Provides individual and family counseling and education sessions to deal with the personal, social and vocational effects of trauma, resettlement, COVID-19 pandemic and other stressors;
  • Completes treatment appropriate screening, psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and document client's progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives using trauma informed care and culturally appropriate principles;
  • Ensures the team is aware of changes to any therapeutic plans and work collaboratively with the case manager to implement strategies that move clients toward healing and self-sufficiency;
  • Maintains comprehensive and accurate case notes for each client that meet all regulatory and ethical standards;
  • Maintains confidentiality of records according to regulatory standards;
  • Gathers information about community and mental health resources that can be used in conjunction with therapy;
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional rapport with sponsoring agencies and clients;
  • Consults with the supervisor in determining appropriate actions regarding reported behavioral incidents;
  • Completes and submits reports, internal measurements, program outcomes, and other reporting measures, as directed; and,
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or closely related field;
  • LCSW or LPC Licensure; and,
  • 3+ years of experience providing mental health and therapeutic services and evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with refugees and non-English speaking clients;
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication with the ability to work in a multicultural setting with patience and compassion with diverse individuals;
  • Able to establish and maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients;
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and strength based case management;
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, self-motivation, and organization and resourcefulness while maintaining a reputation through proven action of being client oriented; and,
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and the ability to learn and adapt multiple databases
