Job Description

General Purpose:

Assists Shift Supervisor in managing a production shift.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures operators perform their daily assigned jobs by providing them with the tools needed to succeed (i.e. verbal direction, manufacturing instructions, batch sheets, job aids, schedules, etc.)
  • Ensures operators are properly aligned with the day's production needs and requirements.
  • Promotes safety, efficiency and goal attainment.
  • Assists Shift Supervisor to monitor line efficiency throughout shift and reports on successes or opportunities through daily shift reports.
  • Meets customer expectations on quality and delivery of goods.
  • Follows all DFA GMPs and work in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory quality, and sanitation requirements.
  • Follows all safety regulations.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals in a safe manner utilizing safety equipment such as gloves, eyewear, etc.
  • Serves as backup for relief operators when required.
  • Performs required plant inspections and oversees Master Sanitation.
  • Promotes teamwork and assists in problem solving.
  • Trains new Operators as required.
  • Communicates with the QA department and the Shift Supervisors on a regular basis to ensure that products needed for customers are being produced and meet DFA standards.
  • Covers shift during Shift Supervisor's absence.
  • Other duties and tasks may be included when necessary.
  • Ability to function in a team based structure and positively contributes to those efforts

Shift Schedule Monday - Friday 8pm - 4am or 6pm - 4pm - Based on Product Demand


  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be proficient and knowledgeable in a minimum of twelve (12) jobs in the process, pack-off, retort area and with all Process Control Points.
  • Understanding of AIB, FDA, GMP, HACCP, Thermal Processing and Sanitation/CIP
  • Excellent oral & written communication
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Adaptability to quick schedule changes
  • Possess basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to attain a Forklift Operator License within 30 days of hiring.
  • Must be able to obtain Better Processing School Certificate
